Simile: "Educational technology for me is like..."

"Educational technology for me is like" a chameleon. While its colors (software and hardware) are constantly being updated to adapt to a changing environment, at its core it remains the same, with its intended goal being to help students better understand content and to think more critically.

  1. Hello Guy,

I love the simile you came up with to describe educational technology ! It is incredibly creative. I really like that you included the piece that says the intended goal of educational technology is to help students understand content and think more critically. I believe that a lot of teachers tend to shy away from technology because they fear it. They fear that it will glitch or that it is too unreliable, and as a result their students miss out on this great resource. As we have learned throughout this course, technology is a resource that engages students in learning. It is a resource that all educator should embrace in their classrooms. This course would not be possible if it were not for technology. We have seen the power of tools such as Glogster and Thinglink and VoiceThread. Hopefully we can share this knowledge with any teachers who are still hesitant about using technology in the classroom.
