“SCHOOL: The place for…”
If I was driving to class and noticed a car in front of me had a bumper sticker on that back that read "SCHOOL: The place for...", I would imagine the entirety of the sticker read "SCHOOL: The place for young minds to be free to express themselves." It is extremely important that the classroom is an environment in which all students feel comfortable voicing their own opinions on difficult topics without the fear of ridicule from their classmates or even their teacher. Cultivating an open, intellectual environment in the classroom will not only allow class discussions to flow much more smoothly, but it will allow the teacher to feel more confident in introducing more difficult topics to be discussed to the class, because the teacher would know that the students would be able to respect each other's opinions and allow for more intimate and meaningful discussions.
